Today I have added information for my links on my links page, made it so that a visit from the Google Bot will not increase the hit counter on my homepages and have coded 2 new pages, a forgotten username and a reset my password page.

Welcome to Area 51.1 the new name for Sam’s Site.
Along with a new name the site has 3 new colour schemes as well as iPhone icon and animated Favicon.
To celebrate the launch of the new site I have also finely coded in the ability for members to post comments on my news and update post like this one.

Hi all,

I have started working on the comments section and plan to have it up and running in one week.

I do plan to use this section more as a blog than it is at the moment but first I want to get all the functionality I would like working.
So far I have the signup, login, settings, account deletion and smiles working as well as the database tables needed to store all the relevant data created, all I have to do now is code the output including admin controls and the submission form. The main hold ups is working out the best way to insert the data into the database and deciding what the output will look like.

iPhone site is now back up and with more features.

OK the email that gets sent out has been fixed and should now look as intended with no odd characters or slashes. Have also added instructions on how to stop the emails to the email.
Next bit I will need to work on is implementing the comment functionality that the emails mention but for now I am going to take a small brake.

Over the last week I have implemented quite a bit of functionality to this site, first being the ability for people to register with us so they can have these updates emailed to them if they wish as well as having surten parts of the site already filled in with their information, like the shoutbox and contact me form. I have also coded a settings page where members can update most of the information they gave when they created the account, and last but not least I have added the functionality for member to delete their accounts.
If anyone finds any errors or can think of improvements that can be made to this site then please use the "Contact Me" form.

Have made a quiet a few small changes to both the main and iPhone version's of Sam's Site. Still not 100% happy with both sites, but have not given up.

I am thinking of programming a register section so people can have these updates and other stuff emailed to them. Well I realise this will probably never get used, it will be good to see if I can code it and will be handy if I ever design a site for anyone in the future that require this functionality.

If I get that working then next will probably be adding the ability for members to add comments to my news posts, I will be well on my way to creating a full blogging engine by then.

Have made a few changes to the website today and before anyone says anything. Yes I know the Links page looks a mess, I am still working on it and plan to have it fixed soon.
Changes include;
1. Index page now looks better at high resolutions well still looking good at lower ones.
2. Have added a link to a new page under this News/Updates section which will display all posts that have ever been made.
3. The Admin links that are at the top and bottom of every page have now been moved into a selection box, this is to make it clearer that these links are only for my use.

Just a small change have created and implemented an animated favicon for this site.
I also plan to do a bit of a redesign of the links page as well as the links at the top and bottom of every page, these changes should be implemented within the next few days.

Changed some of the code behind the "News/Update" section so it no longer fails W3C XHTML validation. Part of the fix was to add the functionality for me to edit these posts.

Just a small change to the code that operates the hit counter, have replaced the code which I got off a free scripts website with my own that now also only counts unique visitors as well as being considerable shorter in script length.

This is the first recorded update. I have added this "News/Updates" section to the homepage and have added a small gap in the links at the top & bottom of every page to indicate better where the user links end and the webmasters links begin!
